Industrial deafness » Industrial deafness research

Sufferers from industrial deafness will be interested to hear that the British Tinnitus Association is funding the investigations of graduate students at the beginning of their careers in research.

The BTA, which became an independent charity in 1991, funds hearing research as part of its project of creating better tinnitus awareness. More information about the charity, and application forms for undertaking further research, can be found at www.tinnitus.org.uk.

At the time of writing, there are two researchers being supported. One will investigate the effect of weather conditions on hearing problems, and says I have been interested in meteorological conditions in relation to health for many years, both personally and professionally, but have never been in a position to carry out acceptable and valid, scientific research - until now that is.

I wish to investigate any connection between changes in tinnitus awareness and changes in meteorological conditions. Now, thanks to the BTA sponsorship and the MSc course at Bristol, I have the tools to do this.

The second is a piece of original research into understanding and managing the condition, taking powerful psychological principles into account. The Director of the BTA has written that We are interested in supporting research into tinnitus at any level and any scale and consider all applications on their merits. As our MSc studentships indicate, we are keen to nurture junior researchers.

Making an industrial deafness claim

With no cure for tinnitus on the horizon, this research can only ease, not end, the suffering of those who have ended up with hearing loss as a result of their work. If this group includes you, you may be able to make a compensation claim as a result of that hearing loss, if some responsibility for this falls on your employer at the time.

The personal injury solicitors at HappyClaim will be able to help you decide whether you are eligible to claim damages, and to help you do so. With governance from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and a cost free guarantee in place, we are a safe pair of hands to help in your no win, no fee case.

You can reach us through this website, both by using our online claim form and our uk phoneline on 01582 437070. The team here will look forward to helping in your industrial deafness compensation claim.
