Claiming Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit is also available to those who have an asbestos-related disease, asthma, chronic bronchitis, pneumoconiosis, tenosynovitis or vibration white finger, although other illnesses may also entitle you to it. There is an eligibility time limit of five years from the time you stop working at the place that caused the industrial deafness to the first time you make a claim for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.

A hearing test will be arranged by the Jobcentre in order to find out to what level your hearing has been damaged. Hearing loss caused by inner ear damage must be at least 50 dB in both ears and at least one must have sustained this damage as a result of your work.
