Pensioner hospitalised after personal injury

Updated: 13 Jun, 2011

A 75-year-old man from Greater London is to claim personal injury compensation after tripping on badly maintained pavement.

The pensioner had contacted the local council several times reporting the bad conditions of the pavement near his home in Ealing. He originally contacted the council out of fear for his brother who requires the assistance of two walking sticks.

The man had made several attempts to report the problem including telephone calls and a meeting with the Chief Executive at the council, however no action was taken.

The pensioner later suffered an accident himself when he tripped on the hazardous path. The incident left him with a hairline fracture in his ankle and torn ligaments.

The claimant has expressed his determination that no one else should suffer in the same way due to poorly maintained pavements.

He intends to make a claim for personal injury compensation from the local council and hopes that the incident will make them take his concerns over the safety of the area more seriously.
